چکیده

Patients with advanced heart failure have a poor prognosis and quality of life. Heart transplantation remains the definitive treatment for advanced heart failure that is refractory to conventional medical and surgical therapy. Heart transplantation offers improved survival and quality of life. More than 110 000 heart transplants have been performed worldwide and recorded in the Registry of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. Survival is excellent with a median survival from transplantation of 11 years, and 13 years for patients who survive the first year.
